Conference Opens with a special performance from members of Butterfly on a Bullet which began in 2012 as an initiative founded by producer and guitarist, Will Stratton. Entering his 20th year in the Army after 6 tours to Afghanistan and Iraq, Will wanted to use the music he created during and between tours as a way to give back to the military. He intended to release one single and wrote the song, "Come Home" with singer-songwriter, Nicole Eaddy, and guest perfomer Kathryn Eaddy. All proceeds from their first single, "Come Home" will be donated to the USO and Operation Homefront.
 

We are proud to annouce a very special guest speaker, Sid Davis. Sid spent more than 40 years as a reporter, White House Correspondent, news executive. and network journalist. He was a Vice-President and Washington Bureau Chief for NBC News, and Washington Bureau Chief for the Westinghouse Broadcasting Company. He has served as a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution, Program Director of the Voice of America, and as White House Correspondent for Westinghouse Broadcasting. Sid traveled hundreds of thousands of miles with Presidents to Vietnam, the former Soviet Union, the Peoples Republic of China, Korea, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. He was at the White House during some of the most urgent crises of our time. As a news executive over the years, he directed coverage of political conventions, Watergate, and other major stories. He oversaw coverage of the Gulf War and the uprisings that brought the end of the Cold War. After covering the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas n November 22, 1963, Mr. Davis was one of three correspondents to witness the swearing-in of President Johnson aboard Air Force One. His description of the solemn ceremony was the first word flashed to the world of the orderly transfer of power from the fallen leader to Lyndon Johnson.

Col. Lee Ellis, a former Air Force pilot, candidly talks about his five and a half years of captivity and the fourteen key leadership principles behind this amazing story. As a successful executive coach and corporate consultant, he helps leaders of Fortune 500 companies, healthcare executives, small business owners, and entrepreneurs utilize these same pressure-tested principles to increase their personal and organizational success.

Assigned by the Howard County Executive to support small businesses as they seek defense related contracting opportunities in the Fort Meade regional area. In this position, we enhance transparency - support business development process - and create connection opportunities in support of small / minority businesses in Howard County and beyond... Direct/Indirect support to Fort Meade, epicenter of Cyber security mission. In addition, Ms. Few has over 20 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer and Program Manager with knowledge in hazardous material/waste management, water quality, pollution prevention, environmental management systems, and sustainability program development.


Dr. Andrea Morris, BRAC and Community Resilience Director, Arlington Economic Development. The impact of BRAC on Arlington County has been substantial. BRAC Transition Task Force created 34 strategic recommendaions. Dr. Morris will share the seminar with KellyAnn Few and discuss contracting opportunities and how to best utilize the Arlington Economic Development BRAC and Community Resilience Program.



 

Malda Brown, (PCR) Small Business Administration, Department of Commerce, DoD - Army Corps of Engineers, DoD - Walter Reed, Department of Justice, Department of Health & Human Services (ACF,AOA,ASPR.BARDA. OS/PSC, SAMHSA), National Institutes of Health, Food & Drug Administration, Health Resources & Services Administration, Indian Health Services. The goal of the Procurement Center Representative is to increase the small business share of Federal procurement awards by initiating small business set-asides, reserving procurements for competition among small business firms; providing small business sources to Federal buying activities; and counseling small firms.  In addition, PCRs, advocate for the breakout of items for full and open competition to affect savings to the Federal Government.

Sheila Edmondson, DC-PTAC & Milton Goodman, Director DC Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The DC-PTAC provides eligible entities with specialized and professional tehnical assistance to individuals and businesses seeking to pursue and successfully perform under contracting and subcontracting opportunities with the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, and/or state and local governments. PTAC's are the bridge between buyer and supplier, bringing to bear their knowledge of both government contracting and the capabilities of contractors to maximize fast, reliable service to our government with better quality and at lower costs. The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) located on Fort Belvoir, on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, administers the DoD Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP).


Willie H. Davis, President, Davis Executive Associates, Inc. provides growth strategy insights and and executive advisory services to CEO's, senior manager, and government executives. Assist government managers and contracting officials identify small and speciliazed businesses with superior capabilities within their specified targeted needs. Provide business executives with introductions to senior government executives with similar interests and assist startups and emerging businesses navigate the intricacies of the federal government. He is considered the Guru of conducting business with The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Willie will be the host of the MedForum at the Mark Center Lecture Series, "Entry and Success in the Healthcare Market."


Susan Gerbing, GMG Management is a management consultant focusing on Federal Government Contracting. She actively supports Federal agencies with their strategic acquisition planning, development of acquisition packages, vendor evaluations, contract templates, tools and techniques, as well as furnishing on-site contract specialists. For the industry, Susan provides counseling and guidance to small businesses who desire to be a Federal Contractor as well as conducting vendor’s proposal critiques, including color reviews (pink, red and gold). Susan currently is the President at gMg Management, Inc., with a large client base in the District of Columbia. Susan is a former Government Executive with over 30 years in Government Contracting.


Edward R. Saltzberg, Ph.D. President, ERS Advisors. Ed began his consulting career with Science Applications International Corporation in the 1970's, when it was a $50 million firm. He quickly rose to Corporate Officer and was part of SAIC's explosive internal growth to over $2 billion. He brought what he learned at SAIC as a partner in two small consulting firms, Viar & Company and the Marasco Newton Group, which he helped expand and sell to DynCorp (now CSC) and SRA International. He subsequently led Battelle Memorial Institute's environmental program, before starting ERS Advisors in 2007. Ed primarily works with executives to implement a corporate-wide systematic approach to meet financial goals. The Bid Decsision Framework (BDF)  includes business metrics, pipeline management tools and training to implement the tactcs Ed learned from 30 years of experience winning several billion dollars of federal awards. 

Scott Orbach, EZGSA, is a teacher, author, consultant, radio host and expert witness. He has worked with over 1,600 federal contractors since 1990. He also authored seven books about federal procurement, including Getting A GSA Schedule, teaches federal contracting at two Washington, DC area colleges, hosted the Washington, DC based "Gateway to Government Sales" radio show, and is co-founder and President of EZGSA. Scott leads seminars for federal agencies, economic development authorities and trade associations throughout the United States. He is an informative and entertaining speaker with more than 20 years experience in business consulting and contract management. Mr. Orbach has been invited to address a number of organizations, including the Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Centers, Washington D.C. Women's Business Center, NeoCon World's Trade Fair, America's Security Expo, the National Contract Management Association's World Congress, the Institute of Management Consultants, National Association of Broadcasters, and the United Professional Sales Association.

Annie Brock is no ordinary motivational teacher, coach and speaker. She has helped launch emerging and experienced professionals to increased success for 30+ years. Annie spent ten years in the US Army as an Airborne Paralegal Specialist and Blackhawk Medical Evacuation Helicopter Pilot. An experienced small business owner, she is a member of Harford County’s Commission on Veterans Affairs, leads the Susquehanna Community Blueprint, matching Veterans and their family members with needed services, and is completing a Master’s Degree in Public Leadership at George Washington University. Annie was one of 150 coaches who trained 20,000+ Guatemalan leaders on transformational leadership at the request of the Guatemalan President in June 2013. One of first 100 women assigned to the 82d Airborne Division, Annie was the first female enlisted 82d Airborne Division Soldier to attend the XVIII Airborne Corps Leadership Academy; completed the Jumpmaster Course and earned the Senior Parachutist Badge; and received a direct appointment to the Medical Service Corps as a commissioned officer.

Ngozi Bell, Office of Advocacy, Small Business Administration was appointed Regional III Advocate which comprises Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, by the Federal Government in November 2010. Regional advocates work with Federal, State and Local Policy makers and Leaders, Small Business Stakeholders and Small  Businesses to help identify new issues and concerns around policy and regulations that affect small business owners, and they work closely with the chief counsel for advocacy.

Scott Kaeppel, President, Kaeppel Consulting. Scott served in the US Army as a Nuclear Medical Science Officer and was heavily involved in BRAC analysis activity.  He next joined General Electric as a process improvement expert, further developing his skills as a Quality Manager and becoming certified as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.  That led to his recruitment by several large organizations to develop their internal continuous improvement and innovation programs where his teams achieved over $2 billion in benefits through disciplined and creative use of Lean, Six Sigma, and Change Management tools.  Perhaps his greatest innovation achievement was leading the team at USAA who developed their “Deposits at Home” remote check deposit through image capture back in 1995, a first among retail banks, now copied by most others.
